DEPARTMENT INFRASTRUCTURE

The Department of Computer Science and Enginering was established in the year 1998.The Department is accredited by NBA. The Department has grown in strong over the years in terms of infrastructure facilities, experienced and dedicated team of faculty strength, technical expertise, modern teaching aids, browsing facilities etc.

          The department has currently an intake of 120 students. It has centralized computer center with a built up area of 2210 sq.m. It  has excellent and well-equipped air-conditioned laboratories with state-of-the art computing facilities, equipped with more than 550 latest Pentium Systems along with updated versions of latest software and hardware. The department also has 120 KVA power backup and 2 Mbps Leased Line Internet connectivity for the benefit of the students. The department has MOU’s with leading companies in Chennai enabling staff and students to work on current trends.

	The infrastructure of the Department includes class rooms equipped with modern audio video aids, tutorial rooms, well equipped laboratories, departmental library & seminar room and faculty offices. In laboratories, students experiment with the latest    technologies   which help them in kindling their latent skills.
The Department has 5 laboratories namely RDBMS Lab, Graphics and Multimedia Lab, Computer Programming Lab, Case Tools Lab, Project Lab. These laboratories include IBM X225 Series server and IBM Series X226 Servers and a cluster of Ethernet LANs and standalone personal computers.

          The software available are Windows 2000 server, Windows XP, Windows NT, Red Hat Linux, Rational Suite,   Microsoft visual studio,  Microsoft office 2000 professional, Microsoft Front page 2003, Oracle 9i, Adobe In design, Studio MX, Direct MX, Borland Turbo C++ Suite, and Borland Enterprise server.

          The ComputerCenter serves with around 235 nodes.  The operating systems available include Windows 2000, Windows XP professional, and Red Hat Linux. The other application software includes MS office 2000, Turbo C++ suite, Borland Turbo C++ suite, and Visual studio, Oracle.  8 UPS   of 10KVA   capacity   each provide power requirement for the above system. There are also eighteen dot matrix printers and one laser printer. The computer center provides   2 Mbps  1: 2  RF leased line Internet connectivity.

• 2 Mbps 1:1 RF leased line from STPI
• 1 Mbps Upstream and downstream uncompressed bandwidth from TATA INDICOM

Access:

• 8.30 A.M to 5.30 P.M (Monday – Friday)
• 8.30 A.M to 4.00 P.M (Saturday)

Faculty

          The department has experienced and dedicated team of faculty members who work towards creating an academic-industrial environment through continuous Interaction with the Industry and organizing guest lecturers, Industrial visits, In plant training etc... The faculty members are sponsored for pursuing their higher degree, FDP , National and International conference & Seminar to improve their performance in teaching –learning process.
