ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Computer applications (MCA) was established in the year 1999 with an intake of 30 and it has been enhanced to 60 in the year 2000-2001 with an objective of imparting quality education in the field of Computer Science. With rapidly evolving technology and with the objective to progress core competence in Computer Science to prepare the students in terms of carrying out development work, as well as to take up challenges in research, the university and AICTE has changed the program duration from 3 years to 2 years from the academic year 2020-21.

The Department has contemporary facilities for teaching, learning and research. Department has set up of advanced laboratory facilities like Cisco Networking Lab, Cloud Computing, Mobile Application Development and BigData. The students have access to high speed Internet network connection of 100MbPs with Wi-Fi connectivity. The Department has a well-equipped department library which is enriched with over 600 books, 12 printed journals, 52 IEEE Journals and 114 DELNET Online Journals.

VISION:

  • Education: To impart technical learning experience that assimilates   creativity, critical thinking, and lifelong learning in Computer applications.
  • Research: To promote research in the field of computer applications, addressing needs of the society.
  • Sustainable Solutions : To provide sustainable solutions for the real world problems  by upholding  ethical standards.
  • Industry and Society: To establish collaborations with  industry to improve students’ employability and entrepreneurial spirit to contribute to the society.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOS)

  1. Apply their computing skills to analyze, design and develop innovative software
    products to meet the industry needs and excel as software professionals.
  2. Pursue lifelong learning and do research in the computing field based on solid
    technical foundations.
  3. Communicate and function effectively in teams in multidisciplinary fields within the global, societal and environmental context.
  4. Exhibit professional integrity, ethics and an understanding of responsibility to
    contribute technical solutions for the sustainable development of society.

  1. PO1 (Foundation Knowledge): Apply knowledge of mathematics, programming logic and coding fundamentals for solution architecture and problem solving.
  2. PO2 (Problem Analysis): Identify, review, formulate and analyse problems for primarily focussing on customer requirements using critical thinking frameworks.
  3. PO3 (Development of Solutions): Design, develop and investigate problems with as an innovative approach for solutions incorporating ESG/SDG goals.
  4. PO4 (Modern Tool Usage): Select, adapt and apply modern computational tools such as development of algorithms with an understanding of the limitations including human biases.
  5. PO5 (Individual and Teamwork): Function and communicate effectively as an individual or a team leader in diverse and multidisciplinary groups. Use methodologies such as agile.
  6. PO6 (Project Management and Finance): Use the principles of project management such as scheduling, work breakdown structure and be conversant with the principles of Finance for profitable project management.
  7. PO7 (Ethics): Commit to professional ethics in managing software projects with financial aspects. Learn to use new technologies for cyber security and insulate customers from malware
  8. PO8 (Life-long learning): Change management skills and the ability to learn, keep up with contemporary technologies and ways of working.
