Science and Technology Innovation (STI) Hub – Phase I for Coir technology and coir products was established and was inaugurated by Dr.R.Kannan, Executive Director of TANCOIR, Tamil Nadu State on 12th March 2024 and was made available for the SC community population of the S.A. Engineering College, Tiruvallur District, Tamil Nadu State.

Innovative Coir Products Exhibit
As part of DST-Sponsored 2-Day Workshop on “Building Entrepreneurs of Tomorrow: Start-up Pathways & Enterprise Creation in Coir Sector for SC Students” held on 23rd & 24th September 2025, Principal Investigator and his Student team proudly exhibited & showcased a series of innovative coir-based products – Coir Bricks, Coir Tiles, Coir Ceiling & Table Fan Blades, Coir Corrugated Sheets, Coir Helmets, etc., in front of Chief Guest Dr. E. Bhaskaran (Joint Director (Engineering)/General Manager–Grade I, Department of Industries & Commerce, MSME Department, Government of Tamil Nadu), along with our College Secretary, Advisor, and Principal, who appreciated the students’ efforts. This initiative not only fosters innovation and sustainability but also motivates students to explore entrepreneurship and start-up opportunities in the coir sector.
